Following the sell-out initial run of Gino Fabbri and Donna Africa’s Whole Lotta Laughs, Centrestage brings the popular comedy back to the Boardwalk Amphitheatre for an extra performance one night only - 29 DEC by public demand!
Gino Fabbri’s brand new comedy show “Whole Lotta Laughs” is set to burst your sides as the funnyman reunites with his side-kick Donna Africa for an evening of hilarity and merriment centred around the subject of laughter – and how people, against their better natures, tend to find great amusement at the misfortune of others!
Whole Lotta Laughs introduces an audivisual element into the craziness as psychologist Reginald Sneed explains how some people tend to derive great mirth at the misfortune of others. Donna Africa reprises her role as the coloured car guard Beronyce September, this time spending a while explaining why her husband Virgil is such a skelm, to much hilarity. Indian bookie and wheeler dealer Rancid Punjabi shares his own frustrations with his wife and provides some valuable relationship tips which wil resonate with many a frustrated couple, whilst wannabe game ranger and rhino guy, Guy O Ryan, battles with the voices in his head to deliver a very unorthodox animal lecture with a difference!
Chinese ambassador Footsa Kionaai (don’t say that too fast!) explains how the misheard lyrics of Western songs can be highly offensive and then delivers a mispronounced karaoke song himself – and Irish nun Sister Sipisticus and Mother Inferior share some amusing insights behind the scenes of the world of the cloth.
Whole Lotta Laughs also includes a musical self-help segment which teaches a paint by numbers methodology for writing love songs and shows how to become a musician overnight by proving that all songs can be played using the same 4 chords.
The all-new two hour show introduces 3 new characters, continues the stories of some old favourites, incorporates audiovisual interaction with side-splitting consequences – and visits another chapter in the ‘Evolution’ tradition by this time examining the ‘Evolution of Nonsense’ through a scintillating medley of another 50 songs in 7 minutes, which provides another feel-good rollercoaster end to a light-hearted show which is guaranteed to leave your cheeks hurting afterwards!
This show also launches a new concept for the Raddison Blu Hotel in association with Centrestage called “Razzlin’ at the Raddison” which will see quarterly shows taking place in a cabaret setting at the up-market venue.
Other surprises await in a show which is guaranteed to once again have audiences reaching for their tissues to wipe away the tears of mirth, clasping their sides and embracing the restorative side effects of laughter at a fraction of the cost of a single session of therapy!
Both Gino Fabbri and Donna Africa have become firm Centrestage favourites over the years, with their previous shows Toast, Gino Fabbri is Completely Nuts and Funny Galore having garnered them a big fan-base throughout the country.
A Whole Lotta Laughs offers an evening of new material from these comedy stalwarts. Whilst this show incorporates the same kind of rambunctious songs and silliness evident in their previous outings, some refreshing new dynamics and musical playfulness are also introduced.
