Centrestage brings its biggest hit show of the past year, the Mumford Revolution, back to Old Grey for two nights only on Thursday, 18 June and Friday, 19 June. This follows the unprecedented response by audiences for the shows recently held at the Barnyard in Cape Town.

The spotlight falls on the folk, celtic and country inspired music of Mumford and Sons as the show celebrates the origins and emulators of this uplifting, stomping, banjo infused musical trend which has stormed the charts over the past few years.

Artists such as James Blunt, The Lumineers, Passenger, One Direction, One Republic, Imagine Dragons, Phillip Phillips, Avicii and our local Jeremy Loops and Matthew Mole have all been inspired by the Mumford sound.

They rub shoulders with infectious standards such as Dueling Banjos, The Devil Went Down to Georgia, The Soggy Bottom Boys Man of Constant Sorrow, Whiskey in the Jar and the Raggle Taggle Gypsy, all of which are bound to get the party going!

The highly entertaining 7 piece lineup consists of a showcase of seasoned entertainers and top musicians who have performed throughout South Africa over the past 10 years.

The lineup comprises of Wayne Kallis, Fenlin Pitie and Hugo Kleinhans on vocals, keyboards and guitar, with Kevin Mattheus on drums, Andrew Warneke on double bass, with Colin Lyall on banjo and Nicholas Fidler on fiddle.

The Mumford Revolution promises to take you on a musical journey through the evolution from the American Country Bluegrass & Irish Celtic influences to the Mumford & Sons hipster phenomenon we know and enjoy today.

Songs such as James Blunt’s Bonfire Heart, One Direction’s Story of my Life, Daughtry’s Long live rock and roll, One Republic’s Counting Stars, American Author’s Best Day of My Life and Avicii’s Hey Brother, Wake Me Up and These Days and local lads Matthew Mole’s “Take Yours I’ll Take Mine” and Jeremy Loop’s “Skinny Jeans” all make it into the show by virtue of their driving kick-drum sound and celtic overtones.

The Revolution also takes in the likes of the Charlie Daniels band as well as the Dubliners and a selection of Irish sing-along songs.

A selection of popular Mumford and Sons songs such as Babel, I Will Wait, Little Lion Man and The Cave, amongst others are also featured.

The Mumford Revolution is a show to be enjoyed by young and old, hipsters and hillbillies alike!!

Tickets for the Thursday show are R140 per person or R130 per person for eight or more can be booked at Computicket - Click Here or by calling Wendy on 082 661 6921.
