CENTRESTAGE PAYS TRIBUTE TO FLEETWOOD MAC 3/4 MARCH OLD GREY

The rumours are true as Centrestage brings its popular tribute to Fleetwood Mac back to Old Grey on Fri 3 and Sat 4 March.
Brilliantly fronted by Lynn Cloete as the gravelly voiced Stevie Nicks and the talented Caron Strydom as Christine McVie, the cast of superb musicians precisely recreate the lush harmonies which gave albums such as 1976’s Rumours and 1987’s Tango in the Night such iconic status.
Uber-talented Andre Strydom, beloved for his fronting roles in Centrestage tributes to the likes of The Bee Gees and Neil Diamond, is at the helm of this project. No amount of detail has been spared to recreate the beautiful Fleetwood Mac songbook with as much authenticity as possible, with the emphasis on subtle instrumentation and textured harmonies.
The band once again consists of a group of consummate vocalists and musicians. Fenlin Pitie is responsible for the trademark synth keyboard backing, Alan Kozak is on lead guitar, with drummer Devon Van Rooyen playing the role of Mick Fleetwood. Dickin will showcase the unique guitar picking style of Lindsay Buckingham and alternates on percussion too.
Songs featured in the show are mostly taken from their 1975 self-titled album, their 1987 album Tango in the Night and their live 1997 album The Dance, and of course, their epic 1979 album on which the show title is based.
Rumours was written and recorded as three long-term relationships-between Buckingham and Nicks, the married McVies, and Fleetwood and his wife-publicly unraveled. The album is a virtual document of romantic turmoil, and its timing reflected the interpersonal upheavals of the liberated Seventies. Resonating with a mass audience like no other album in rock history, Rumours yielded a bumper crop of songs with enduring appeal, among them the Top 10 hits “Go Your Own Way,” “Dreams,” “Don’t Stop” and “You Make Loving Fun.”
Songs covered include the likes of Gypsy, You make Lovin Fun, Dreams, Say You Love Me, Tusk, Little Lies, Seven Wonders, Sara, Big Love, Rhiannon, The Chain, Don’t Stop, Go Your Own Way, Second Hand News, Everywhere, Landslide, Gold Dust Woman and Never Going Back, amongst other favourites.

With Old Grey having recently been revamped, the dinner theatre format will continue, with meals and bar facitilies available before the 19h30 start and during the shows themselves.
