Extravaganza East London

Centrestage brings its flagship show The Centrestage Extravaganza to the East London Guild Theatre for one night only on Friday 27 January at 19h30 as the popular entertainment company offers two and a half hours of superlative entertainment showcasing highlights and special moments from various of their shows staged over the last 2 years.

The show follows a single night fund-raiser of their cowboy spirited tribute to Southern Country influenced Rock The Good The Band and the Ugly, which will be staged at the same venue the evening before on 26 January.

A stellar lineup is offered as the Centrestage Extravaganza features a number of guest artists from the Centrestage stable who have become much loved house-hold names in East London over the past few years.

The show will feature extracts from the latest Centrestage hit tribute to the Beach Boys, which has not yet been seen in East London.

Featuring Alan Kozak, Thuba Myeki, Jace Bowren, Wayne Kallis and Will Jenson, this segment sees the spotlight falling on the phenomenal feel good surfing harmonies of the ever popular Beach Boys.

Lionel Hunt performs an eerie likeness of Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison in extracts from the Good The Band and the Ugly - and also dons his sequined suit to pay tribute to the King in his trademark, award-winning Elvis performance.

Claire Harmse is a rough voiced Janis Joplin and Francois Hugo plays Kris Kristofferson, while the band comes together to perform some scintillating Travelling Wilburies songs in the cowboy salute.

Alan Kozak performs as Eric Clapton, Kallis appears as the Boss Bruce Springsteen and the Canadian Rocker Bryan Adams and Hugo brings the house down as Joe Cocker in extracts from The Vintage Rockers.

The multi-talented Andre Strydom takes a turn as Neil Diamond and sings the falsetto of Barry Gibb in a special Bee Gees segment too.

Donna Africa and Thuba Myeki showcase the range of cabaret highlights and show-stopping big band and party songs they have developed over the last few years of performing for companies around the country.

All in all, a fantastic smorgasbord of talent and non stop entertainment awaits from East London’s favourite production company.

Tickets costing R110 each (4 for R95 each and concessions at R85) are available by calling the Guild Theatre on 043-7430704.
