The mother of all rock n roll parties, the Centrestage tribute to Creedence Clearwater Revival – Hey Tonite - is heading to Bucanneers in East London for a two night run this weekend on Friday 31 August and Saturday 1 September, before opening for three nights at Old Grey in PE on 5, 7 and 8 September.

Jeffreys Bay residents will be able to catch the show at the popular Potters Place cabaret venue on 14 September.

The feel-good tribute to the immensely popular sing-along group takes in 40 Creedence hits which are all guaranteed to get the audience into a rock n roll frenzy.

The Centrestage All-Star band is bolstered by the new addition of ace guitarist Sherid Van Rooyen, who makes his debut for Centrestage this weekend.

Van Rooyen will be remembered for his fronting role in the band “Shrinking Railroad” – his tremendous bluesy feel on guitar saw him becoming the inspiration for a whole generation of guitartists.

The show is once again fronted by the hyper-energetic Wayne Kallis as John Fogarty, who brings his perfect gravelly voice and dynamic stage energy to bear to replicate the raw 'garage band' sound which has become the distinctive CCR trademark.

Various guest vocalist performances are also made by the other members of the band, so we’ll see versatile drummer Gino Fabbri alternating on guitar and harmonica, bassist Andre Strydom lending his high Bee Gees voice to a few tunes, and keyboardist Khanya Matomela also having a chance to show off his bubbly personality on up-front vocals from time to time.

Comedian drummer Gino Fabbri is especially excited to see Sherid Van Rooyen joining the band.

“I have wanted to reunite with Sherid for the longest time”, said Fabbri. “He is a guitar guru supreme with the most beautiful tone and technical accuracy. Sherid played guitar in the very first gig I ever did in public – for the Four Winds Folk Club in the days when Gary Hemmings was chairman and he staged a special Woodstock evening. I remember how remarkable Sherid was playing those Hendrix licks with such authenticity, so its quite a privilege and a bit of nostalgia with have him play this show with us!”

With so many beloved hits to showcase, a spirited band to perform them, a sense of nostalgia in the air and an audience who can't wait to party, Hey Tonight! just cannot go wrong.

Travelling Band, Down on the Corner, Suzi Q, Heard It Through the Grapevine, Born on the Bayou, Up Around the Bend, Proud Mary, Bad Moon Rising and Have You Ever Seen the Rain are but a few favourites in the repertoire.

A look at CCR's country roots will include the likes of Cotton Fields, Looking Out My Back Door, Jambalaya and Lodi, while their protest songs such as Fortunate Son, Run Through the Jungle and Who'll Stop the Rain are also included.

John Fogarty fans will be pleased to see the inclusion of some of his solo hits such as Old Man Down the Road, Rock n Roll Girls and the Status Quo hit, Rocking All Over the World, which was originally written by the CCR frontman.
