PE Duo performs stunning Adele and Michael Buble tribute
The music of Adele and Michael Buble is featured in a new Centrestage production entitled ‘Chartbreaker Heartbreakers’.
Featuring the glorious voices of Robynn King and Thuba Myeki, this staging follows their acclaimed initial standing ovation performance at Remo's last Saturday.
Described as 'mesmerizing and highly emotionally charged', the show contrasts the powerhouse heartbreaking love songs which are the Adele forte and which suit Robynn's voice so impressively, with the suave, debonair style of ladies’ man charm of Michael Buble, convincingly portrayed in effervescent style reminiscent of a young Dean Martin by the experienced Thuba.
Debbie Everard accompanies the duo on piano, whilst Alan Kozak appears on guitar.
Popular smoky Adele hits covered include the likes of Hello, Chasing Pavements, Someone like You, Skyfall, Turning Tables, Don’t You Remember, When We Were Young, Water Under the Bridge, Rumour Has It and Set Fire to the Rain, whilst the Buble selection is focused more on his pop hits rather than his big-band material.
Buble hits such as I’m Your Man, Everything, I Believe in You, Beautiful Day, Nobody But Me, Haven’t Met You Yet and Hollywood provide the perfect counterbalance, as the Myeki and King reinterpret aspects of the material in duo format too, with a sizzling electric dynamic evident between them onstage throughout the show.
Chartbreaker Heartbreakers marks 9 years since Thuba and Robynn first performed together in the Centrestage production Divas are Forever, along with Donna Africa and Lynn Cosme at the time, and show-cases the maturity with which both performers have grown over the years.
