Centrestage is getting Thunderstruck as they promise to recreate the raw live onstage energy of one of the most influential and entertaining rock bands of all time, ACDC, in a show entitled For Those About to Rock.
The ultimate tribute to the rock legends responsible for hits such as You Shook Me All Night Long, Highway to Hell, Back in Black and Thunderstruck is being staged at Detroit Motor Spirit from Wed 12- Fri 14 October before moving to Eddie Macs at VP for a final performance on 15th October.
The group of performers making up the line-up are all huge ACDC fans, none more so than drummer Gino Fabbri, whose dream it has been to stage this show for a number of years.
“I was a Zeppelin fan until I first heard ACDC”, said Fabbri.
“I couldn’t believe that I was 16 years old and I hadn’t yet heard their entire 70’s collection! Since then, I have been hooked – I just had to get my fix of their raw rock n roll guitar licks. This band was fighting to keep rock n roll alive in the swamp of electronica that I grew up with –their energy, groove and the pure feel of their live performances still makes my hair stand on end!”
“We had all the elements for the show lined up, except we were missing an Angus Young – the crazy “naughty schoolboy” who tears up and down the stage and delivers those trademark, back to basics guitar solos which drive the ACDC sound” he continued.
“Then suddenly I was introduced to Jens at a comedy gig … and the show was on!!”
So it was that this ACDC tribute has been made possible by the inclusion of guitar wizard and showman Jens Koudele, who is in South Africa from Germany and authentically fills the shoes of lead guitarist Angus Young.
As luck would have it, Jens played in a top ACDC tribute band in Germany and is currently in PE on contract working for Schnelleker.
One of the few vocalists in the country who can provide the voice of Brian Johnson without dropping the key is Cape Town’s Deon Du Toit, who had previously fronted the Centrestage band in The Kickass Guitar Show and The Vagabonds of Rock.
Add Wayne Kallis as Bon Scott, with Gino Fabbri on drums and Joe Van Der Linden on bass – and the lineup is ready to rock!
ACDC are still one of the worlds most popular touring live bands.
Songs such as Shoot to Thrill, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap , The Jack, Let there Be Rock, TNT and all their greatest hits will be performed live by the group of die-hard ACDC aficionados!!!
