THUBA MYEKI has a charming, confident, likeable stage personality which engages and speaks directly to his audiences.
His vocal range and the variety of material he is able to cover flawlessly is extremely impressive, from the smooth, classy big band sounds of Michael Buble to the operatic styling of Josh Groban through to his impersonations of the likes of Michael Jackson to the meticulous way he is able to emulate the rappers of today’s pop genre.
Thuba has built an extensive repertoire ranging from a suit of 60’s rock n roll, sophisticated jazz standards, cabaret and Motown classics and opera right through to a selection of current chart toppers which will keep any audience on the dance floor.
Thuba also includes a selection of well-known songs in his repertoire which have been specifically rearranged to give them a more interesting and impactful feel, from 50’s and 60’s songs which have been modernised in their arrangements through to more current songs which are then given a retro feel. His 2012 production The Topsy Turvy Nuvo Retro showcases some of these examples.
Thuba’s easy, intelligent, mature speaking style makes him an ideal MC for functions, a great link-man in shows – and he is able to seamlessly integrate his performances and banter with audiences and to deliver corporate messages, which is why he is a favourite to host Sun International’s Boardwalk Casino high profile MVG draws on a regular basis.
At the tender age of 18, Thuba’s magnetic personality and impressive voice got him into the Idols top 11 of 2009.
Since then he has joined the Centrestage stable and matured enormously as a performer.
In the last 2 years he has been one of Centrestage’s the most in-demand performers in public shows and in corporate performances throughout the country, where his generosity of spirit is evident in everything he does.
Thuba performs in various roles – as a solo performer, as MC, as part of the 5 hander boy-band Escape, in front of the celebrated Centrestage All-Star band , along with Donna Africa in Big Voice Big Heart, as guest artist in Divas Are Forever, fronting The 80’s Glory Days and Rocking Through the Decades, he paid tribute to Westlife and Robbie Williams with Escape, he sets the dance-floor alight in Strictly Partytime and most recently appeared as the high singing Beach Boy in the Beach Boys Summer Party Show.
Thuba has a natural sense of comedy and the ability to whip up a frenzy of female adulation as his infectious, youthful animated stage energy comes to play.
Most recently, you can catch Thuba in the Nuvo Retro Topsy Turvy Music show – and look forward to his tribute to Michael Buble which opens in May 2012 and will be performed at the Grahamstown festival.
