centrestage Beach Boys East London Strictly Partytime

Centrestage celebrates the wonderful summer-styled surfing harmonies of the Beach Boys in their latest edition of Strictly Partytime, which is being specially staged at the Jam Shack Boma and Boeretroos Theatre for one night only on 12 November.

The iconic 1960’s surf sounds of the three Wilson brothers -- Brian, Dennis, and Carl -- plus cousin Mike Love and friend Al Jardine became an American musical institution as the Beach Boys parlayed a repertoire of songs about surfing, cars, and girls, with lyrics celebrating the easy beach and surfing lifestyle of southern California, into the basis for one of the country's longest lasting success stories.

Centrestage has assembled its top group of sweet-voiced close harmony singers to emulate and recreate the gorgeous, intricate, trade-mark Beach Boys vocal sounds:

Long-haired surfer Alan Kozak joins musical director Wayne Kallis as the pair combine classic acoustic guitar riffs and tight harmonies, joined by Thuba Myeki, Jace Bowren and Will Jensen .

Over the past 49 years, the Beach Boy’s accolades have included more US top 40 hits than any other US rock band (36), being listed 12th on Rolling Stone magazine's 100 Greatest Artists of All Time, and the number one-selling American band of all time by Billboard.

The feel-good selection of very well-known and much loved hits includes the likes of Dance Dance Dance, Little Honda, I Can Hear Music, Surfin’ U.S.A., Don’t Worry Baby, Barbara Ann,California Girls, Fun, Fun, Fun, Sloop John B, I Get Around, Help Me Rhonda, Wouldn’t It Be Nice and Good Vibrations, amongst others.

The hour and a quarter long Beach Boys segment forms the opening part of an evening which has become a tradition over the last few years – as once the show portion has completed, the dance floor will open for a further 2 hour live party set which is guaranteed to have everyone on the dance floor.

The venue has a bar and also offers delicious meals.
Tickets for the show cost R120 each and can be purchased by calling Lara on O722257120.
