CENTRESTAGE’S TRIBUTE TO THE EAGLES RETURNS TO OLD GREY
Soaring harmonies, intricate acoustic guitar delights and a songbook jam packed with popular hits all combine as Centrestage will be taking it to the limit one more time, recreating the Hell Freezes Over magic of The Eagles at Old Grey on 12 and 14 April.
The show is modelled on two of the Eagles’s famous reunion concerts – the 1994 concert regarding which Henley was famously quoted following an acrimonious breakup 13 years earlier ‘would only happen when hell freezes over’ – and their 2005 Farewell Tour, which featured beautiful updated arrangements of the classic beloved Eagles songs.
Andre Strydom plays the role of Timothy B. Schmit, Wayne Kallis is Don Henley, Hugo Kleinhans fronts as Joe Walsh and Sandy Robbie fills the shoes of Glen Frey.
Khanya Matomela and Megan Du Toit play keys, whilst Kevin Mattheus is on drums.
The show features evergreens such as Take It Easy, Lying Eyes, One Of These Nights, Desperado, Take It To The Limit, The Heat is On, Heartache Tonight, Tequila Sunrise, Peaceful Easy Feeling, Dirty Laundry, Life In The Fast Lane and New Kid In Town amongst others.
These are all performed with the trademark Centrestage musical precision, attention to detail, intensely accurate instrumental work, stand-out vocals, heartfelt love of the music itself and balance between showmanship, entertainment value and an authentic approach.
Show on Fri 12 April starts at 8pm, whilst the special Sun 14 April performance starts at 2pm.
Tickets through Wendy on 082-6616921 or Computicket cost R160/R140 for 8 or more, with pensioners paying R20 less.
